Lyman Briggs College Book Scholarship

Lyman Briggs College is raising funds for the Lyman Briggs College Book Scholarship. This scholarship will be offered to first-year students who have limited access to STEM disciplines to purchase books and class materials during their freshman year.

Our goal is to create five, $500, one-time book scholarships to go to the most deserving students annually. The scholarship will help support students who can bring a unique perspective to the college, as well as diversity. We in Lyman Briggs College believe that without providing this support, our community is missing out on an opportunity to provide more accessibility to students who might otherwise find extra challenges in pursuing a STEM education. If LBC could offer additional education support through this scholarship once our students get here, in addition to offering the Briggs experience, we could become more competitive and be the difference between these students choosing another university or even another program within MSU.

Support the Lyman Briggs Book Scholarship to ensure all students have equal access to a residential STEM education

Supporting students through this book scholarship aligns with values that Briggs maintains: diversity, inclusion, leadership and responsibility. Our philosophy of inclusion is the idea that every student has the same opportunity to succeed, and at Briggs, this means that our students will be supported and have access to the tools they need to succeed, regardless of their race, academic, or socioeconomic background. The LBC Book Scholarship is a way for LBC to uphold these values, and keep supporting all of our students and ensuring their success.
