MSU Law Pathway Programs

Michigan State University College of Law is committed to expanding access to legal education, enhancing the diversity of the legal profession, and expanding legal services to Michigan’s underserved communities.

MSU Law Pathway Programs prepare and inspire participants to pursue careers in the legal profession. Through longitudinal programming in career exploration, academic counseling and preparation, and skills and leadership development, MSU Law Pathway Programs provides the necessary foundation for students to succeed both academically and professionally.

The MSU Law Pathway Programs office establishes a route to law school and the legal profession for participants who have been historically underrepresented in the legal profession. Our work introduces high school, college students and recent college graduates to career opportunities that they may never have dreamed about, demystifies law school and the legal profession, and informs and inspires these students to actively pursue a career in law. Participants develop critical thinking, problem-solving, and communication skills. With your help, participants will learn from scholarly presentations, outings to courthouses, law firms, and legal service organizations, visits to the College of Law for tours, training, moot court and mock trial opportunities, and LSAT and Bar preparation programs that improve writing skills, test-taking strategy, and time and stress management.

MSU Law Pathway Programs participants are supported by law school students, faculty, and staff and build a support network amongst their peers with common goals. These interactions increase participant confidence, nurture self-esteem, and provide timely, practical advice each step of the way. As our participants succeed, they serve clients from diverse cultures and communities to help bridge the justice gap. In addition, they become role models to younger generations who seek to attain higher education and successful careers in law.
