JMC Experiential and Engaged Opportunities for Students

Experiential learning is an integral part of a James Madison College education. It engages students with a variety of educational opportunities that complement their coursework. Study abroad programs, field experience internships, undergraduate research, student leadership training — these and other experiential and engaged learning opportunities are critical to our students’ education, skill development and interaction with off campus communities.

Many students face financial barriers that make participating in these programs implausible or impossible. Studying abroad is expensive. Some students settle for an internship closer to home to save money. The expenses to conduct or present research can be prohibitive.
