Honors College

As we approach nearly 70 years of the Honors College, we have our foot on the gas, and your support fuels us forward.

Your generosity fortifies the Honors College as the university’s intellectual hub and a national bastion of excellence. The chapter ahead includes larger-scale enrichment events in our new living-learning community at Campbell Hall, more keynote speakers, greater partnerships, increased opportunities with faculty, and a public-facing footprint with global impact.

By supporting these initiatives, you're elevating the reputation of the university and the experiences of Honors College students.

Honors College Research Scholars Program

The Honors College is a national leader in meaningful undergraduate student research. Join us with any gift amount to create a new research position with every $5,000 raised. These opportunities allow students to research with faculty mentors throughout the academic year, and students receive a stipend for their time.

Honors College

At the completion of an undergraduate degree, a student receives a complimentary graduation stole for completing their Honors College requirements. Join us to continue this gift of regalia for approximately 1,200 students annually. Every $30 provides a white collar stole to recognize each new alumnus who walks across the graduation stage.

Mowbray Scholars Program

The Mowbray Scholars program, open by application to all students, is a cohort-based initiative that funds study away opportunities anywhere in the world that are related to the student’s career goals. “My experience was characterized by 75 strangers from around the world, and what I learned from them,” said Honors student Audrey Dayton, who attended the Salzburg Seminar on Media and Global Change as a Mowbray Scholar. “I spent three weeks discussing solutions to journalistic issues, such as local journalism’s sustainability.” This program honors the memory of MSU’s first African-American female graduate, Myrtle Craig Mowbray, who had a storied career in education and public service. Gifts will be used in a manner that is open to all without restriction or preference based on race, sex, color, ethnicity, national origin, or other protected personal identity.
