Beal Scholars Program: Help Grow Tomorrow’s Leaders

The Beal Scholars Program offers MSU undergraduate students from any major a unique mentored experience that bridges academic learning with hands-on practice. Students apply their education and skills to projects that benefit the garden’s mission but are also designed to result in a product that students can proudly showcase in their resume or portfolio. This program is more than an internship — it’s preparation for the future.

Your Gift Supports Student Success

A few current Scholar projects funded by gifts like yours:

  • Arula is an Environmental Studies and Sustainability and Environmental Economics and Management double major who is using her expertise to elevate our social media presence and engage audiences in our work.
  • Finn is an Outdoor Education and Art and Planning major who is bringing interactive works of art to the garden. By creating larger than life models of real-world native plants, they are both teaching the public about native plants and providing engaging wellbeing activities for the MSU community.
  • Isabella is a Forestry and Wildlife Ecology and Management double major who is focusing on inclusivity by bringing Indigenous perspectives and storytelling to the garden.
  • Samuel is a Forestry major who is bringing to life our historical woodlands by researching and interviewing campus experts about the significance of these green spaces and how this knowledge can better inform our future management decisions.

Your gift matters. These students and others like them are funded entirely by gifts and endowment income.

Funds raised through this campaign will provide paid experiential learning experiences for MSU undergraduates that will transform their lives by empowering them to achieve professional success while still an MSU student. These interdisciplinary, mentored experiences will prepare them for a future where they will need to be creative, adaptable, and resourceful.
